Ilà Certificate: Level A2 Evaluation Grid

As for the presentation paper, it evaluates achievers’ skills in providing basic information regarding level A2 topics, using simple and short phrases and answering the examiner’s questions. The paper lasts 3 minutes and makes up 30% of the total marks of the exam.

The paper is passed if the achievers’ performance is equal or more than 70%  of the total marks.
The evaluation is carried out through an analytic method, as specified below:

As for the interaction paper, it consists of a series of short dialogues with the examiner, starting from flash cards created on purpose and suitable to describe the contexts of the level under consideration. This way the paper evaluates achievers’ skills in managing with a basic conversation. The interaction paper lasts 5 minutes and makes up 30% of the total marks of the exam.

The paper is passed if the achievers’ performance is equal or more than 70%  of the total marks.

As for the listening paper, divided into two parts, it evaluates achievers’ skills in listening for gist, with a minor part of listening for based on  two audio tracks lasting maximum 3 minutes.

The first part develops throughout the following steps: viewing the paper (2 minutes), first listening (3 minutes), working out or reviewing the answers (3 minutes), second listening (3 minutes) and final revision (3 minutes).  The first part is a one-voice track whose comprehension is tested by means of a fill-in exercise composed of 5 items.

The first part is passed if the achievers’ performance is equal or more than 70%  of the total marks.
The evaluation is carried out through an analytic method, as specified below:

The second part develops throughout a slightly different timing: viewing the paper (2 minutes), first listening (3 minutes), working out or reviewing the answers (2 minutes), second listening (3 minutes) and final revision (2 minutes). This track is focused on a two-voice dialogue whose comprehension is tested by means of a multiple choice exercise composed of 5 items with 3 options each.

The second part is passed if the achievers’ performance is equal or more than 70%  of the total marks.
The evaluation is carried out through an analytic method, as specified below:

The wrong answers do not penalize the final  mark. The questions are only focused on the proper contents of A2 level, however the paper may include elements belonging to a higher level as achievers should be able to detect and deduce meaningful information.

The listening paper makes up 40% of the total marks of the exam, wherein the first part constitutes 60% and the second one 40%.

Two examiners are involved in the session: one of them guides achievers and interact with them; the other observes the achievers’ performance to evaluate it together with the colleague.

Certificate Ilà-A2 is awarded if the achievers’ performance is equal or more than 70%  of the total marks of the exam.

The weighted sum of the candidates’ marks in the three papers makes up the final grade, according to the following bands:
